NorthWoods Animal Coalition
(formerly Kalkaska Citizens for Animals)
NAC is a grass-roots (all volunteer), non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, dedicated to addressing issues related to the humane treatment of animals. The membership consists of volunteers who are all ordinary people, living ordinary lives, with a love of and for animals of all shapes, sizes, and species. These individuals are united together in a common purpose; and working together with others, are driven to accomplish all that is possible for the benefit of the animals of this area.
NAC has been in existence since 2001. The organization has assisted the Kalkaska Animal Shelter with many animal issues, including adoption programs, shelter overcrowding, facility needs, and operational requirements. NAC strives to continue to spay and neuter the majority of the pets at the Shelter to reduce overpopulation and to reduce costs to adopters. NAC has also sponsored many reduced-cost Spay & Neuter Clinics for the pet owners of the area. NAC is passionately dedicated to the education of and providing for discounted spay/neuter clinics and vet-coordinated services, and promoting and advertising pet adoptions. NAC also promotes humane, compassionate attitudes toward all animals, large and small, domestic and wildlife. All animals need a safe environment; no animal deserves to suffer.
